Google’s Mobile Friendly Websites

Mobile Friendly Website

Have you tried reading some non mobile friendly websites on a phone? It’s nearly impossible and can be quite frustrating. We know the scenario – Your device has a smaller screen but the website you are trying to read is still packed with tiny text and a menu that takes you a few swipes across to view. Not to mention those sites still with flash video that you can’t view at all. Businesses who are not mobile friendly appear outdated to users.

From tomorrow, 21 April 2015, Google is introducing a new way to help users discover more mobile-friendly content and it’s time for your website to make the responsive change.

Google and Mobile Friendly websites

Google’s Webmaster blog released this statement in February 2015:

“Starting April 21, we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results. Consequently, users will find it easier to get relevant, high quality search results that are optimized for their devices.”

Why mobile friendly is important

This seems like a no-brainer for Google to favour mobile friendly sites. With so much traffic coming from mobile devices, most businesses recognise this and want to accommodate their services to their customers.

By accommodating your customers you are increasing your chances to not only make sales but reach a higher ranking, among your competitors, in Google’s search results.
